1966 was a very good year for The Beatles. Just like most every other year in the 60s.

This day in 1966 brought some number one chart status for the Fab Four. Their current album at the time, 'Rubber Soul' was at the top of the album charts, lasting for six weeks (total of 56 weeks on the LP charts), and 'We Can Work It Out' hit number one on the U.S. singles chart, where it remained for three weeks.
