Classic Rock Throwback Thursday – Spirit In The Night [WATCH]

Wanna take another ride in the Whale Time Machine? Let's go. The year is 1973, one of my favorite years. Maybe it's because I graduated high school, and was excited about my future in the adult world. Little did I know what a ride I was in for.

In 1973, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band we're enjoying the success of their current album at that time - 'Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.' One of my favorite songs on that album - Spirit In The Night, was the second single released from that amazing album. Other tunes from that album includes Blinded By The Light, Growin' Up and For You.

Spirit In The Night was covered later by Manfred Mann's Earth Band and had commercial success on the U.S. singles chart, reaching the number 40 spot before dropping out. Of the two versions, my favorite is the Boss's version.
