Take a seat in The Whale's Classic Rock Time Machine. This week we're traveling back to July 16th, 1966.

On this particular day, a group of three guys came together to form a band that would only be around for two years. That group was called 'Cream. It's founding members included Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce. Basically they were a 'supergroup', billed as the first of it's kind.

Four albums were produced, with 'Wheels of Fire' being the most successful. Cream produced some amazing tunes like ' Sunshine Of Your Love', Strange Brew', 'White Room' and Badge.'

The band did have a couple of reunions in 1993 during their induction into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame induction and in 2005 for a series of shows in London and New York. For this week's Classic Rock Throwback Thursday, let's hop back in the time machine and fast forward to 2005 to enjoy the song 'Sunshine of Your Love' performed during the reunion at the Royal Albert Hall in London by the supergroup, Cream.
