Let's go back to 1974.
It was my first year in college, and life was one big party!
Little did I know real life was just around the corner.

Fast forward to 2014, and I'm invited to the 40th anniversary of my college radio station.
That's when I felt a bit old, hanging out with college students, but it was fun telling stories of the beginnings of the radio station!

Some interesting facts about 1974.
Inflation was crazy - 11.3%.
Gallon of gas - 55 cents.
Monthly apartment rental average - $185.
55 mph became the national maximum speed limit.
Tallest building in the world - Chicago's Sears Tower.
4 billion people inhabit the planet.

Movies included The Sting, Blazing Saddles, The Exorcist and The Godfather part 2.
Winners in the sports world - Miami Dolphins, Oakland Athletics, North Carolina State, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia Flyers and Richard Petty.

The rock world produced some great music from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, The Steve Miller Band, Paul McCartney & Wings, Elton John, Steely Dan, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and Faces with Rod Stewart, and John Lennon.
