1971. I was a lowly sophomore in high school. Bottom of the totem pole, since I was in 10th grade in a high school for grades 10 through 12. It's a wake up call going from the top of the heap in middle school to being the lowest of the low when moving on to high school.

Anyway, back to 1971. It was a great year for Marc Bolan, Steve Currie, Bill Legend, and Mickey Finn, the band members of T-Rex. The band's name was actually 'Tyrannosaurus Rex', but the band's producer, Tony Visconti, began abbreviating the name, and eventually it stuck.

December 4th that year, the album 'Electric Warrior' which was their sixth, topped the UK album charts. The LP contained their most popular tune 'Bang A Gong (Get It on.)
