Jethro Tull scored a number one album on this day in 1972.

Thick As A Brick was certainly set apart from other rock albums in  that it contained one song. The concert album contains 'Thick As A Brick Part 1' on side A and 'Thick As A Brick Part 2' on side B. The first track is 22 minutes, 40 seconds and the second is 21 minutes, 6 seconds. Ian Anderson wrote and produced the album, which was the fifth for Jethro Tull.

The cover was designed to look like a newspaper with a fictional name, dated January 7th, 1972. The original album actually contains 12 pages of newspaper stories. In 2012, Jethro Tull did a follow up to the album, titled 'TAAB2 - Whatever Happened to Gerald Bostock.' It debuted on the US album chart at number 55.

For his week's Classic Rock Pick, we honor one of rocks best - 'Thick As A Brick', from a 1878 Jethro Tull concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
