It's the end of the year, and everywhere you turn, there's a 'year-end' this or 'look back at the year' that. So allow me to join in the fray, except let's substitute 2014 for 2005, with the topic being Rock Music's Top Grossing Tours.

On this date in 2005, the top honor went to U2. The band performed live 90 times around the world, and raked in about 260 million dollars. Millions of people attended those sold out concerts. Other rock bands who did well in 2005, included The Eagles (117 million), Paul McCartney (60 million) and Elton John (45 million.)

My favorite U2 album is 'Rattle and Hum.' I played that LP many times over and wore out. OK, actually it was a cassette, not an LP.  You remember those, right? As for my favorite song on 'Rattle and Hum', it is the last cut, 'All I Want Is You.' Let's mark that tune as this week's Classic Rock Pick of the Week.
