February 11th, 1972, the 'Dog' was rocking the US singles charts.

Led Zeppelin's 4th album was out at that time, and the single 'Black Dog' was soaring up the singles charts in the US. Unfortunately, the rise to the top ended at number 15. The tune was the 3rd for Led Zeppelin to crack the Top 20.

'Black Dog' was chosen in reference to a black Labrador Retriever had been wandering around the studios during the recording sessions. Robert Plant recorded his vocals in just two takes. Do you remember what was on the 'B' side of that 45? 'Misty Mountain Hop' occupied the flip side.

Enjoy this awesome live version of Led Zeppelin's 'Black Dog' and don't forget to 'Get The Led Out' every weeknight around 9:15pm with Doug Mosher on 99.1 The Whale!
