Authorities say 55-year-old Calvin Harris of Spencer was charged with fourth-degree stalking, a misdemeanor.

According to state police, Harris was arrested at 6:48 p.m. Thursday. He was accused of verbally threatening an off-duty investigator and his family while standing in front of the investigator's home in the Town of Oneonta.

Harris was arraigned in town court and released on his own recognizance. A judge issued an order of protection directing Harris not to contact the investigator and his family.

The judge also ordered Harris to surrender all firearms in his possession.

Speaking to reporters in the Town of Owego Friday, Harris said he had been in Oneonta to sell a drone to someone he'd contacted online.

Harris said police seized his cellphone and car. He said he was concerned police would delete recordings of the events stored on his phone and on the vehicle's dashcam.

Harris said he had been held in handcuffs for hours after he was taken into custody. He called on Governor Andrew Cuomo to investigate the actions of state police Troop C. He accused the state police of stalking and abusing him.

Harris was found not guilty of murder last month in a Schoharie County trial. It was his fourth trial since his wife, Michele Harris, vanished in September 2001.
