After finishing her studies at Binghamton University, Eva Duarte chose to stay in Broome County and set up her own business.

With some help from friends and folks in the community, Duarte has opened a barbershop in the heart of downtown Binghamton that offers a special, welcoming environment.

Dapper Rascal Studio at Court and State streets started operations in July.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Duarte expressed appreciation to those who helped her in launching the business.

The shop is located in a building that up until recently had been home to a Family Dollar store. Dapper Rascal is next door to the Dos Rios Cantina restaurant.

Duarte is looking forward to welcoming area residents to her shop this weekend. She says a grand opening party will be held at the business this Saturday evening.
