The Rock in Rio Festival will see faces new and familiar next year, as they announced that three of its headliners for 2013 will be Metallica, Iron Maiden and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Other headliners will be named at a later date.

This will only be the second time Springsteen, who will play on Sept. 15, has performed in Brazil. His previous appearance was at the Estadio Palmeiras in Sao Paulo on Oct. 12 1988 as part of Amnesty International's Human Rights Now! Tour, with StingPeter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman and Senagalese star Youssou N'Dour.

Metallica will be making their sixth appearance at Rock in Rio, which will be held from Sept. 13-22, 2013. The Bay Area metal legends, who are set to fill in for Green Day at the Voodoo Music + Art Experience in New Orleans later this month, will close the festivities on Sept. 19.

Iron Maiden, who will headline the festival's final night (Sept. 22), are also no strangers to Rock in Rio. Their performance in 2001 was recorded and released as a CD and DVD.

Tickets for Rock in Rio 2013 will go on sale exclusively to Brazilian residents on Oct. 23. They will be available to the rest of the world in April 2013. Complete information can be found at their website for those who read Portuguese.
