A walk in the park is driving home the message that the state of the health of Broome County residents is not a walk in the park.

On Monday, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar called reporters to Otsiningo Park to reveal that Broome has ranked an embarrassing 55th out of 62 counties in the 2017 County Health Rankings.

According to the Broome County Health Department, Garnar says the county can do so much better and has announced the formation of the “Get Healthy Broome Task Force” which he hopes will improve the county’s health.  The Get Healthy Broome Task Force will be comprised of several government departments and legislators.

There are several major issues plaguing Broome County including obesity, physical inactivity, and sexually transmitted infections and Garnar is on a mission to change that.
