Hundreds of residents were left without water service because of a water main break in Binghamton.

The problem was affecting apartments at Legacy Bay Townhomes located on Ely Park Boulevard. The complex is located on the far north side of the city, east of Glenwood Road. It has about 200 units.

The water main break was discovered around noon on Friday. City water department crews began making repairs Monday. The repair operation was interrupted because of an equipment problem.

An advisory from City Hall indicated Legacy Bay buildings A through Q would be without water service while repairs were being made.

The Broome-Tioga BOCES campus and the former Broome Developmental Center complex on the west side of Glenwood Road were expected to have low water pressure during the repair operation.

UPDATE: Binghamton officials Monday evening reported the water main repairs had been completed and water service had been restored.
