The Color Run 5K returns to Binghamton this Sunday. The race takes place on the campus of SUNY Broome on Upper Front St. It starts at 10 a.m. and wraps up with music and a post-race party. The event has sold out in years past so I'm kind of surprised that tickets are still available.

If you are a runner or even a walker, The Color Run is a blast. You run around the school running through different color areas where they spray you with colored powder. You start out wearing a white Color Run t-shirt that ends up looking tie-dyed by the time it's all said and done. You can avoid the splash zones if you'd like, but where's the fun in that?
The post-race party always ends up with a big cloud of different color powder being thrown in the air. I think the most impressive part of the whole thing, is the way they clean up afterward. A couple hours after the race ends, you wouldn't even know the Color Run was even held there.

The proceeds from The Color Run benefits the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier. M.H.A.S.T. helps people cope with mental illness here in the Binghamton area. Brian Schroeder's forecast from WBNG Storm Track 12 is saying it will be mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of rain on Sunday with the high of 58.

Ticket information and pictures from past color runs are available on the Color Run website. If you're in the Color Run, I suggest you bring a change of clothes or an old sheet to cover the seats in your car. It's hard to get those colors off cloth seats.
