Yep, Don Morgan and I went to the same place, but I went to get a taste of the lunch vibe.

This time I took my friend Kathy. Again, I had never been to Southside Yanni's, so this was outside my comfort zone. Restaurant Week is all about exploring new eateries and new food, so I got in the spirit!

First off, Crystal, our server was awesome. She was bubbly, thoughtful, attentive. Everything I was taught to be when I was a young waitress.

Kathy ordered the beef soup and beef gyro. It came with a side of homemade potato chips. They were light and tasty (yes I tried a couple). She was very pleased.

To start, I had the ham and potato soup. It was nice and warm with the right mix of everything. You know how sometimes soups are all filler and no meat? Not the case here.

I hadn't had a gyro since I was 12, so I tried the chicken gyro. Talk about flavor! It had a nice mix of tomato and onions, plus Feta cheese (which gave it a creamy texture). The marinaded chicken was packed with flavor. The side I chose was macaroni salad. It gave me a happy little moment!

For dessert, some yummy cookies. I ate them before I remembered about the picture. Sorry.

I have to note that Southside Yanni's is able to cater to the needs of people who have to eat gluten free. Just ask!

If you haven't taken advantage of Restaurant Week, what's taking you so long? You pay only $10 to $12 for lunch and about $25 for dinner. This isn't just about food either, Restaurant Week proceeds help VINES and the Boys & Girls Club. Tomorrow is the last day, so go!
