Binghamton Restaurant Week continues through Thursday October 27th. It’s your opportunity to sample great tastes from many Binghamton restaurants. Each establishment has designed a special menu, representing some of their signature dishes.

You’ll find either 2, 3 or 4 course designed lunches and/or dinners from each restaurant, and it is a great way to try a new place, or restaurant you may know of, but never stopped in to try out what they have to offer.

My girlfriend Kristin and I were lucky to have been able to visit The Colonial for lunch on Wednesday afternoon to try out their exclusive Restaurant Week menu. We were greeted at the door by the hostess, and were seated shortly thereafter.

Kristin's appetizer was the seasonal salad, and it was plated very nicely, and a huge portion! I stole a bunch of her candied pecans and apples, but she forgave me. I got the country fried chicken strips, and it came with bbq sauce, chipotle ranch, and gravy. They were good, crunchy, and I liked the options to choose from for dipping sauces.

Her main entree was the fish sandwich. She told me that it was very good, and the fish was nice and crunchy on the outside, but tender and juicy on the inside. I got the blackened chicken sandwich as my main course meal, and it was very good! It comes with pepperjack cheese, roasted red peppers, grilled onions, an aioli sauce - and french fries on the side. I decided to upgrade my fries to the "house style", because their house sauce is awesome! It's like a mixture of the chipotle ranch and the bbq sauce, topped with parmesan cheese. If you're familiar, it tastes just like the "all dressed" Ruffles potato chips (shameless plug). Crazy good!

I had to cut my entree a little short, because the portions were so huge, that I was only able to finish half of my chicken strips, and half of my sandwich, and I was stuffed! Considering that I was so filled up, I wasn't sure I'd be able to get up from my seat and walk back to the radio station (literally 100 feet across the road), I got my dessert to go. Both Kristin and I ordered the strawberry shortcake, and ate them later at night after our huge lunches were digested. They were so good - just like my grandma used to make!

All in all, The Colonial is a great choice, and even more so with the great three course meal bargain that you will get during Binghamton Restaurant Week! The word of the day is "portions". Did you check out the pictures of these plates? Their portion sizes were enough that I now have leftovers for lunch today, and chicken strips to snack on later too! All for only $12.00... that's an awesome deal. The Colonial is known for their expansive beer selection, and awesome cocktails, but their food is good too! Check it out before the deals are gone, runs from October 18th – 27th!

Also, of note at The Colonial -
"Wine Down Wednesdays" features half priced wine bottles from 5pm-11pm
"Boozy Brunch" from 11:30am-4:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays, with chicken & waffles specials, bottomless mimosas, and the "Large And In Charge Bloody Marge" (32oz Bloody Mary loaded with skewers of mozzarella sticks, shrimp, slider, wings, bacon, grilled cheese, and veggies)
