Once again our defending Eastern League Champion Binghamton Mets are playoff bound adding to another magical season. Tonight they host the Reading Fighting Phils.

I remember talking with Binghamton Mets General Manager, Jim Weed, about a month before the regular season started. We talked about the magical season last year, and how many of the guys would be back this year, the players, coaches, and management all were confidant that they could be a play off team. He knew they would compete for a second consecutive Eastern League crown.

Well, the first part of the journey has been completed! And with a 77-64 regular season record, the Binghamton Mets will host the Reading Fighin' Phils tonight here at NYSEG stadium.

The Phils had a slightly better record with 3 more wins than Binghamton, but these two teams are very close in talent. Their final series of the regular season was split at 2 games a piece!

I have said it many times on air and in my Sports Raps, but we are extremely fortunate to have both a professional hockey team and professional baseball team in our city.

This is an exciting time for local sports in Greater Binghamton. It doesn't get any better!

The Binghamton Mets will host the first two games of a best of five series against the Reading Fightin' Phils. First pitch is at 6:35pm.

We encourage you to come out to NYSEG stadium tonight and tomorrow, and make some noise for your defending Eastern League Champion Binghamton Mets!
