A Binghamton man is charged with felony forgery as well as lesser counts of unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, driving without a license and a number of traffic violations after Broome County Sheriff’s Deputies chased him on Route 11 and Colesville Road in Kirkwood in Kirkwood and into Chenango County.

Deputies say they tried to stop 21 year old Rebel Whitman at 12:01 a.m. November 1 when he made an illegal U-turn and headed north toward Sanitaria Springs.

Authorities say he continued on secondary roads into Chenango County and sideswiped a New York State Police car on Route 206 in Greene before traveling off the road and into a ditch where he and a passenger were taken into custody.

Officials say the vehicle had a false license plate and the window registration sticker had been falsified.

There were no injuries.

The passenger was not charged and was released.

Whitman was sent to the Broome County Jail.
