Binghamton Launches More Street Repairs

Work is underway on the latest round of Binghamton’s goal of refurbishing 15 miles of streets and infrastructure a year.

Binghamton Mayor Richard David says while the massive Riverside Drive project is due to see final paving starting next week, $5 million is being spent this year on a new slate of infrastructure projects along dozens of streets.

Chestnut, Chenango, Matthews, Mygatt and West State Streets along with Laurel and Vestal Avenues are among the 15 miles of streets slated for reconstruction this year.

Work involves 9.2 miles of milling and paving, 4.3 miles of preventative maintenance upgrades including overlays and microsurfacing and 1.5 miles of full street reconstruction.
