Binghamton Community Welcomes Soldiers Home
For those of you who don't know, The Whale is owned by a company that owns four other radio stations in our area. One of these other radio stations or as we like to call "sister stations" is 98.1 The Hawk.
A listener called The Hawk morning show to inform them that a couple of soldiers were coming home from Afghanistan on Tuesday. The morning show, Traci and Glenn, thought it would be nice to organize people to get together to welcome the soldiers home so they put out a call of duty so to speak on their facebook. Traci asked me personally if I would like to come and of course, I said yes.
It's a simple thing to do, but I like to think it meant something to them. After all, they put their life in harm's way to protect ours so the least we could do is welcome them home and thank them. As you can see in the video and pictures, there were two soldiers and quite a few people ended up attending our little welcoming party.
In the future, we hope to get all of our stations and more people in the community involved to make this a big ordeal every time soldiers fly home to Binghamton from overseas. Thank you to all the service men and women out there - we wouldn't be here without you!
