Snow falling in the region results in the closing of dozens of offices, businesses and schools March 14.  The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 8 p.m. with heavy snow accumulating up to two feet.

Delaware, Broome and Tioga Counties have advised residents to stay off the roads if possible. In addition to the heavy snowfall today, blowing and drifting is expected with white out conditions.

The Delaware County Sheriff tells motorists to stay off the roads.

New York State Electric and Gas has crews ready to deal with possible power outages due to the winter storm.  While Broome, Tioga and Chenango Counties are under a Winter Storm Warning, areas to the east are under a blizzard warning until 11 p.m. due to a projected 19 inches of snow and winds expected to maintain at over 30 miles an hour or higher.

Many government offices are closed due to the weather.  Residents are encouraged to call ahead if they have business to do with agencies, although, Broome County… including the Department of Motor Vehicles, the City of Binghamton and Johnson City are among the offices announcing they would.
