Awkward Single People Situations

Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for my sister. She is dating the person she will probably be with the rest of her life and it must be quite obvious because now, as her older sister, I am getting asked many inappropriate or uncomfortable questions.

Holly, is there anyone special in your life?

Answer: If there was, you would probably know and also, it isn't any of your business!

This is normally followed by a "Oh, I'm sure there is someone out there for you."

Yeah, it's called two dogs, a successful career and a nice bottle of dry red wine.

Of course this is mostly from family members who just want the best for me but who is to say I need to get married? I'm not sure if I want to or not. I certainly don't want to pick the wrong one just for the sake of getting married. I think often times, people in my generation are so scared to be alone and be by themselves, they feel as if they need to get married or have kids even when it may not be the best decision.

Life is a long road, take your time. If you want to get married, then it should be worth the wait. If not, all the more power to you!
