Yesterday we confirmed that the Dinobots, those transformers that also turned into dinosaurs, would be in 'Transformers 4.' What we didn't know then is how big a role they'd play and with the film's new title, it seems they're going to be a big focal point. 'Transformers 4' is now officially titled 'Transformers: Age of Extinction.'
Nostalgia strikes again! 'Scooby Doo,' the Saturday morning cartoon show that generated two live action movies (and then two TV movies), will be coming back to theaters, but this time as an animated film. So no Freddie Prinze Jr. in this one (sorry, Freddie Prinze Jr.).
As you may now know, Ben Affleck was just cast as Batman in the upcoming 'Man of Steel' Sequel. And the makers of 'Runner Runner' couldn't let this buzz opportunity go, so they've just released a clip from the film that is very Affleck-centric to maybe get more people to see the film. He is Batman now, so who's to say?
Though 'Star Wars: Episode 7' hasn't started casting yet, nor has Disney released much information about the upcoming sequel, that's not going to stop intrepid journalists from asking about it. Conan O'Brien interviewed Harrison Ford for his upcoming movie 'Paranoia,' and -- to get Ford to talk about it -- offered Ford a thousand dollars to tell him spoilers from 'Episode 7.'
'Batman and Superman' may be one of the big event films of 2015, but the film is still trying to find its cast. Sure, Henry Cavill is a lock as Superman, but recent word is that Warner Brothers is asking Christian Bale to re-don the cape and cowl, and is willing to pay him a lot to do so. But even then, who knows if he'll say yes? Bryan Cranston seems to want to make casting that much easier, as he's expressed interest in playing Lex Luthor.
Though The Asylum have produced many a schlocky exploitation film with catchy titles (when they're not busy making low-budget knock-offs of big studio movies), for whatever reason 'Sharknado' caught the public's attention, or at least gave Twitter a chance to snark for two hours. Though its initial debut wasn't that highly rated, the film has morphed into a cultural... Moment? Phenomenon? Something? And so now we're getting a sequel.
Though 'Star Wars: Episode 7' may have sat out Comic-Con, now that it's a Disney product, it's possible we'll get the first big casting announcement this year at Disney's D23, which is coming in August. But news has broken that Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling are being talked about for the film, and that Gosling is up for the role of Luke Skywalker's son.
The Syfy channel wants to get in on the recent resurgence of 'The Wizard of Oz'-related material with their own revised and rebooted Oz. The plan is to move the story to a post-apocalyptic future, and have 'Abraham LIncoln: Vampire Hunter' director Timur Bekmambetov at the helm of their version, which is titled 'Warriors of Oz.'
Every year Marvel likes to do something big at Comic-Con to get audiences excited for what's coming next. Though we won't see the film until 2015, Marvel brought out Joss Whedon to announce the title of 'The Avengers 2.' It's 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron.'
