Aerosmith have hinted they’ll be looking back to craft the new songs on their upcoming ‘Music From Another Dimension!’ album. Presumably, that meant working with Jack Douglas again, the producer who helped shaped the band’s early sound. It also means choosing songs that are almost a decade in the making.
The Rolling Stones have begun recording music — presumably new music — to mark their 50th anniversary. Mick Jagger tweeted a photo on Thursday of him sitting on a drum stool, holding a telecaster in front of a few racks of guitars and amplifiers. The band was also photographed entering or leaving a recording studio in Paris two days earlier.
Ted Nugent, a fully-automatic machine gun, a helicopter and an overpopulation of feral hogs … one can pretty much figure out what that combination leads to. In the trailer for an episode of ‘Pigman: The Series’ an announcer explains why the hogs are dangerous before Nugent and Brian “Pigman” Quaca take to the sky.
Fans of Neil Young won’t have to wait long for more new music from the rock legend. After releasing the ‘Americana‘ album in June, Young announced today that he’d release ‘Psychedelic Pill,’ an oversized collection of original material featuring his beloved backing band Crazy Horse, in October.
Lynyrd Skynyrd released a new album on Tuesday (Aug. 21). ‘Last of a Dyin” Breed is being called a return to the classic Skynyrd sound, and the recently released title track backs up that claim. The album title could refer to guitarist Gary Rossington, who is indeed the last of a dying breed. He’s the only remaining original member of the legendary rock group. Critics have wondered how he can justify carrying on with a lineup of “replacements.” Rossington says he’s not trying to fool anybody.
For the seventh time since being convicted of killing John Lennon, Mark David Chapman has been denied parole. The New York Department of Corrections announced the ruling this morning, meaning the man who shot the Beatle on December 8, 1980 will serve at least two more years in jail.
Next month, Black Label Society founder Zakk Wylde will add radio host to his resume. ‘Wylde on Sports’ begins Sept. 4 on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio, channel 87 on XM and channel 210 on Sirius Premiere. The weekly talk show will find the longtime Ozzy Osbourne guitarist answering phone calls from fantasy football players nationwide.
If you want more guitars, more ‘Legendary Child,’ more of the much-hyped Jack Douglas sound of Aerosmith‘s rockin’ ’70s, then their new single is not going to satisfy. You might be better off checking out the band’s other new song, ‘Lover Alot,’ instead.
‘What Could Have Been Love’ is the AC radio hit the group needs to reach a wide audience and sell a ton of copies of ‘Music From Another Dimension‘ on Nov. 6.
The price of sarcasm is high in one teacher’s classroom. The prof. (and obvious Ultimate Classic Rocker) was ticked that her student left an answer blank, but even more upset that he went on to quote the Who’s ‘Behind Blue Eyes,’ attributing the song to Fred Dust of Limp Bizkit.
With the Global Warming Tour behind him, Aerosmith’sSteven Tyler is heading to Hawaii to join Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood at the opening of Fleetwood’s on Front Street in Maui. It’s a rare break in the schedule of a man who’s balanced recording, touring and filming on a reality television show in recent years.
