Authorities say 33-year-old Samuel Olugun of Sayre was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment in connection with the incident in the village of Waverly.

The woman was struck by a bullet in her left leg shortly after 7 p.m. April 23. She had been in her first-floor apartment at 141 Chemung Street.

According to Waverly police, the woman was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for treatment.

Investigators say Olugun accidentally discharged a gun into the floor of an upstairs apartment while he was visiting. The bullet went through a bathroom floor and wound up striking the woman in the downstairs apartment.

Olugun was arraigned in Waverly village court and ordered held to await further legal action.
