There was a recent poll asking people what is your favorite Halloween costume, and all demos’ except little girls, listed a Zombie as one of their top 3 choices.

So what is our infatuation with zombies? I think the AMC series “Walking Dead” was one of the first shows that brought on the new fad of the diseased coming back to life and eating human flesh eating.

The premise started in 1968 with George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” in which large amounts of radiation brought back the dead, and the only way you could kill them is to shoot them in the head.

Romero released several sequels that showed the progression of the story, and then the remakes and zombie themed movies and TV shows followed.

Seems like an odd fad, given its morbid concept.

Never the less, more and more media and events, including a Zombie walk right here in Binghamton are springing up.

Romero, who is considered the father of the Zombie concept, is upset with the Walking Dead TV series, he was quoted as saying “They asked me to do a couple of episodes of The Walking Dead but I didn’t want to be a part of it,” “Basically it’s just a soap opera with a zombie occasionally. I always used the zombie as a character for satire or a political criticism and I find that missing in what’s happening now.”
Personally I am a big fan of both Romero’s concert and AMC’s Walking Dead which just started a new season this past Sunday
