On This Day in History – Ritchie Blackmore Leaves Deep Purple [VIDEO]

40 years ago today, Ritchie Blackmore said so long to Deep Purple.

Richard Hugh Blackmore, decided to leave the band to form his own 'Rainbow.' They produced some great albums, containing a few hits including 'Since You Been Gone and 'Stone Cold.' The band remained until 1984, when Richie re-joined Deep Purple.

My favorite is 'Stone Cold' and here for your entertainment, is a video of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow from a 1982 concert in San Antonio Texas, giving the song justice.
