It appears that another one of the big retail giants in the Oakdale Mall will be moving out. According to News Radio 1290 WNBF, (our sister station) Sears has announced they will be closing their store and the Sear Auto Center as well.

Bob Joseph of WNBF said the store will close in mid-September and Sear Auto will close next month.

Macy’s closed up their store in the Johnson City location in the Spring. With more and more people shopping online, I surprised more of the retail stores haven’t shut their doors. Shopping online is convenient, but there are things that are just better to try on first before you buy. If you purchase something online and it doesn’t fit, then you have to ship it back and wait. If you need something right away, it’s easier to run to the mall and get what you need now without having to wait for it to be shipped.

No official announcement has been made as to what will occupy the former Macy’s store.

I do some of my shopping online, but I do most of my shopping in person. I just hope as time goes on, there will still be stores to shop in.
