The wildfires in California and the tropical storms in the Gulf are calling on more help from American Red Cross workers and Broome County is sending people from our area to assist.

Dozens of wildfires are forcing thousands of people from their homes in California and relief shelters are being set up for people who are forced to evacuate.

The Gulf coast from Florida to Texas is preparing to set up shelters for large numbers of families and individuals as two storms hit land.

The America Red Cross is looking for people to help with the shelter relief efforts in those areas and here at home. In addition to volunteers, many health services professionals are needed including  RN, LPN, LVN, APRN, NP, EMT, paramedic, MD/DO, or PA with an active , current, and unencumbered license.

Broome County is sending people from our local chapter, along with several from New York State.

The Red Cross has provided thousands of meals to help victims in these areas, along with relief items that include comfort kits and other supplies.

Donations are always needed to help people affected by these disasters and many others, if you can make a donation to the Red Cross Disaster Relief.

A monetary donation of even 10 dollars is a big help, and its very easy to do.

Currently on the ground in California, and supporting people from Texas to Florida, the American Red Cross is helping Americans in need.

Visit redcross.org, call 1-800-REDCROSS or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small.
