Jimmy Carter was President, the Dallas Cowboys were the Superbowl Champs, Ben and Jerry opened their first ice cream parlor, M.A.S.H. was one of the top television shows of the year, and up until this past Saturday, Affirmed was the last horse to win the Triple Crown.

I had my DVR set to record the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, but I starting thinking, "This could be an historical event, something you would want to experience as it happens in real time.", so I watched with the world as American Pharoah easily pulled away from the pack and crossed the finish line to become the first Triple Crown winner since the Carter Administration was in office!

American Pharoah was only the 12th horse to do this in the entire history of the Triple Crown.

I couldn't tell you the owner's name, and I definitely know nothing about horse racing, but when the gates opened and the pack settled in, this beautiful horse ran with power and obvious dominance over the other seven horses in the Belmont.

It doesn't take an expert to see how special this one horse will always be.

American Pharoah will forever known as Horse Racing's shining moment of 2015.
