Back in October I took a trip to Florida and at that time of the year, travel was quick and easy! There weren't any delays or huge lines. It was the calm before the holiday storm.

If you’re sky bound over the next several weeks you're in for a different story. The holiday traveling season is upon us, so I thought I would include some tips from the experts on holiday air travel!

Sign up for text / e-mail alerts - I did this and got up to date info throughout my trip, if your flight is delayed or cancelled you will know right away and can make adjustments immediately.

Program all phone numbers related to your travel, airlines, hotels, car rental, etc. - This way, should a problem or delay arise, you will be able to contact them quickly.

Don’t panic if you get cancelled or your luggage gets lost - Simply head over to the airline desk and explain your situation. These guys and gals deal with these kinds of problems all day, every day and typically will have a quick solution for you. If they don't, at at least they can get the ball rolling to resolve the issue.

Dress comfortably and bring a pillow to use - My wife always does this and I have to admit it does makes a difference.

Carry on medications - I am a little uncomfortable with air travel, mostly take off and landing, so I usually pop a few Benadryls before I get on the plane. This helps relax me and of course it clears my sinuses too!

Bring music - If medications can't calm your holiday traveling nerves, try music! An iPod or MP3 music player can help drown out the holiday madness happening around you. Portable DVD players or a laptop/tablet are a nice distraction too.

Before you hit the airport try a few of these tips and maybe add some of your own for a smooth and more pleasurable holiday travel experience.
