I visited my sister this weekend to help her throw her annual Christmas party.

Not only does she have good food, drink and a band, but she requests that guests bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank. What a smart idea! She nearly filled up her trunk with the donations.

It is the season of giving, so doing a simple little act like bringing one can to a party is a way to reteach ourselves and teach our children about being generous and giving.

Think about it. If every holiday party that was thrown across asked for a food donation, food banks would be full to start the new year!

So, if you are looking for a way to teach a life lesson, steal this one. And yes, you can do this for family only parties as well.
