Public information meetings are scheduled for December 12 and 13 to talk about the proposed expansion of the Route 434 Greenway in the City of Binghamton and Town of Vestal.

The New York State Department of Transportation says the development of a multi-use trail from Pennsylvania Avenue in Binghamton, west to Murray Hill Road in Vestal is in the preliminary design stage. There are currently three alignment alternatives under consideration.

The December 12 meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in the MacArthur Elementary School gym and the December 13 meeting is in the cafetorium of Vestal Hills Elementary School, also starting at 6:30 p.m. and the presentation each evening beginning at 7 p.m.

The trail at Pennsylvania Avenue is currently being constructed as part of a separate project.

The proposed greenway follows a recommendation of the Binghamton Metropolitan Transportation Study Two Rivers Greenway Plan.

More information about the project can be found by contacting Project Manager Jillian Newby by email at 434Greeway@dot.ny.gov or calling (607) 721-8576.
