Day One of the 28th annual Whale Bowl of Rock-n-Roll is history, with several of the Opening Round battles complete. What are the results so far?

The Stones were stoned by The Beatles, ZZ Top topped The Steve Miller Band, Pink Floyd was not comfortably numb, moving on to defend their championship title, besting Supertramp (did Supertramp really stand a chance?)

Rush just squeezed by Van Halen, Aerosmith said 'stop believing" to Journey, CCR sent Boston packing into a snowstorm, Bruce Springsteen's dream to advance, was 'run down' by Tom Petty, and AC/DC's Rock-n-Roll Train rolled over the Scorpions.

The hottest battle of the day was between Lynyrd Skynyrd up against last year's runner-up - Bob Seger. While Seger fans voted furiously, Skynyrd Nation was just too powerful this year, and will live to see another round. Moving on, Ann & Nancy Wilson won the battle of Rock-n-Roll Ladies, defeating Joan Jett and her Blackhearts, and to round out the day, Bad Company 'kissed' the boys in makeup to the curb.

Today, we'll finish up with the remaining Opening Round battles, and then move on to the next round, cleverly named 'The Classic Rockin' 16' Round, beginning around 1:40pm with Lee Ann Taylor.

All these Classic Rockers advance solely by your votes! Tune in during each battle, and vote for your favorites to move on to the next round at 607-723-9996, and we'll keep you informed when each hour's battle begins, plus the results on Facebook at 99.1 The Whale. We're having fun, and hope you're enjoying the 28th annual Whale Bowl of Rock-n-Roll!
